As a member of the Regional Cancer Screening Program team, the Secretary provides a broad range of administrative/secretarial support to the Regional Cancer Screening program (which also includes Genetics).

The position supports the Regional Cancer Screening Program goals of reducing the incidence and impact of cancer through implementation of risk reduction, effective screening and early detection strategies as well as through patient and provider education and outreach initiatives.

The Secretary provides filing, contact management, correspondence and general administrative support for all activities and initiatives undertaken by the Cancer Screening Program Manager, Genetics Counselor, Regional Primary Care Lead, Coordinator, Cancer Prevention & Screening, Coordinator, Quality Improvement and Performance/Data Analyst and Regional Cancer Program Coordinators.

Administrative support includes co-ordination, recording and action follow up to multiple stakeholder engagement meetings and production of a variety of reports for the Erie St Clair Regional Cancer Program (ESC RCP) and Ontario-Health Cancer Care Ontario (OH-CCO).

The Secretary complies with the Occupational Health and Safety Standards for the hospital and is proactive in promoting a safe work.


QUALIFICATIONS:

Completion of a Community College Office Administration - Medical, diploma, with a minimum of three years related
experience in a health care environment or equivalent combination of education and expertise - required
Exceptional verbal and written skills; ability to interact effectively with all levels of staff, public and regional health care
agencies and providers
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Demonstrated ability to work independently and as an effective team member
Demonstrated thoroughness and attention to detail
Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills
Demonstrated effective problem solving and analytical skills
Demonstrated ability to be flexible and adaptable in a changing work environment


EDUCATION/TRAINING EXPERIENCE:

Minimum Grade 12 Education - required;
Completion of a Community College Office Administration - Medical, diploma required
Minimum of 3 years experience in a clerical position - required
Minimum typing speed of 40 wpm - required (accuracy & speed will be tested);
Medical Terminology - required (will be tested)
Demonstrated proficient computer skills with experience in Microsoft Office Suite Programs including Word, Excel - required
(will be tested)
