General Responsibilities:

The Miscellaneous Detailer produces detailed shop drawings and erection drawings of steel stairs, railings, shelf angles, miscellaneous structural supports, etc.

Shop Drawings will specify the exact details required for fabrication and welding for each individual assembly of a job, as well as the breakdown of each assembly into its component parts.

The detailer will assist team members and managers with design, details and field condition concerns and drawings.

Drawings must be clear in their display of dimensions and complete in relation to the job.

Complete shop drawings show material specifications, member sizes, all required dimensions, welding, bolting, surface preparation and coating requirements as well as any other information required to describe each completed part.

Education/Experience Required:

Minimum 5years' experience as a Miscellaneous Metals Detailer drawing
steel stairs, railings etc.
Secondary (High) School Diploma / Graduation Certificate or equivalent.
Successful completion of College course in Detailing an asset, but not required.
A thorough understanding of Miscellaneous Metals Detailing and math skills.
Spatial visualization awareness and a decent understanding of industry business practices in detailing, engineering and fabrication.
Organized with a high level of communication both written and verbal.
You are proactive and a logical thinker who takes initiative to solve problems early.
You are capable of performing your duties with a mínimal amount of supervision.

Skills and Abilities:

Able to develop and produce fabrication drawings, process diagrams and or models in accordance with effective norms, techniques and specifications.
Experience and knowledge of stairways, railings and misc. steel codes, material finishes, and shop preferences.
Knowledge and understanding of the complete process involved with miscellaneous steel detailing as well as structural detailing/drawings.
Knowledge of Computerassisted design (CAD) software including AutoCAD and Tekla.
Intermediate skills with office software including Microsoft Office, Adobe, Bluebeam.
Able to read engineering and architectural plans.
Detailoriented, precise and organized.
Able to organize multiple jobs and complete on time and with quality.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Diligent checking and editing work prior to releasing.
Asks questions when in doubt or if further information is needed.
