The Role:


The Principal Specialist, Talent Development (Academy Skills Coach) supports the ongoing coaching and development of Academy hires until they have been in their role for 6 months.


They will work closely with the Global Programs Manager and Regional Academy Programme Managers to build collaborative relationships with the Trainees as well as their Line Managers to ensure that they meet their expected development and performance milestones.


This role will also support continuous development initiatives to ensure that Academy Programs are optimized to ensure colleague engagement, improve Trainee capability and enable quicker speed to competency.


The role could be located either in Toronto, Canada or Monterrey, Mexico

Key Accountabilities:


  • Collaboration with the Regional Academy Leads and Trainee Line Managers to support the Trainees' transition from the initial training period to their account / assignment, including guiding Line Managers re: the Safe Landing curriculum and ensuring that accesses / client equipment is ready
  • Scheduling 121 meetings with Trainees and their Line Managers to assess progress with the development milestones. This would include testing Trainees using role play scenarios.
  • Identifying development needs / areas and implementing / facilitating relevant training interventions to address these, optimizing Ignite elearnings and facilitating instructor led sessions where applicable
  • Connecting Trainees with Subject Matter Experts where needed
  • Raise performance concerns via the appropriate channels, including concerns with Line Manager support and / or recommending an assignment / role change
  • Recognizing and celebrating Trainee successes via internal channels including AMS Appreciation platform
  • Signingoff Trainee competence at 6 months against agreed milestones / productivity outputs
  • Gathering testimonials from Trainees and Line Managers to build promotional collateral to use internally e.g. on MyAMS and externally to support talent attraction campaigns for Academy hires.
  • Liaising with the Talent Development Academy Administrator(s) to initiate Line Manager satisfaction surveys
  • Support central Talent Development strategic initiatives

Skills & Experience:


  • Experience of virtual/remote and handson training delivery
  • Understanding of functional remits and performance and productivity outputs
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Coaching / Mentoring experience
  • MS Office packages experience, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels
  • Understanding of the Recruitment Life Cycle
  • Knowledge of Training evaluation tools / surveys
