We are seeking a
Production Manager for a 1-year contract to join our team.


Job Duties:


  • Responsible for the daytoday operations of the production processes and provide direct leadership to Production Supervisor and Team Leads.
  • Provide direction and support to Supervisor to ensure schedule, cost and quality targets are met. This also includes support in the resolution of personnel issues.
  • Create resource and capacity plans and determine requirements for outsourcing & subcontracting of manufacturing, when needed.
  • Achieve and maintain on time delivery by ensuring production schedules and resource & capacity plans are created, updated, and followed.
  • Monitor and manage production resources with a high degree of labour utilization.
  • Ensure departmental performance, using established metrics, as well as introducing new and appropriate measurements as needed to maintain internal control systems to ensure accountability.
  • Provide upper management with accurate daily/weekly/monthly production reports and KPI data.
  • Identify patterns and problem areas and develop and implement effective strategies that will ensure product quality and efficiency in production processes.
  • Review current production methods and costs and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Develop, update and maintain favourable cost center budgets which includes monitoring and managing costs associated with the machining and assembly process.
  • Review and monitor all nonconformance conditions and interface with the Project Manager, Engineering and Procurement to ensure corrective measures are implemented to avoid reoccurrence.
  • Work with department leaders in Engineering, Operations (Procurement) and Project Management to ensure coordinated efforts are inline to achieve desired outcomes and to identify recurring problems and ensure timely resolution.
  • Lead or participate in root cause analysis of production issues or incident analysis.
  • Ensure availability of tooling and other shop supplies by working with the appropriate department.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction, as well as create and develop plans to improve.
  • Continuously communicate and embody the company vision and values.
  • Evaluate employee performance and provide additional coaching and support as needed.
  • Responsible for recruitment, hiring, terminations of production staff and facilitates company's performance management program.

Requirements:


  • Postsecondary education in a manufacturing related field preferred
  • 10+ years of experience in manufacturing operations, with the majority of this time in a management capacity
  • Direct working knowledge of manufacturing operations (machining, welding, fitting, machine building)
  • Knowledge of supplies, equipment, and/or services ordering, as well as inventory control of these items
  • Computer literacy with excellent working knowledge of Microsoft products.
  • Experience with ERP systems
  • Knowledge of local and federal regulations and ordinances
  • Excellent analytical and problemsolving skills
  • Strong written and verbal skills to communicate with all levels of the organization and its executive team
Working Conditions
Located mainly in an indoor manufacturing environment in varying temperatures. Personal protective equipment (safety shoes/boots, and safety glasses) must be worn at all times when in the production plant.

Occasional moderate to heavy manual lifting, standing for extended periods of time, walking, crouching.

Regularly works near active production machinery, in conditions that include moving parts, heat, humidity, and exposure to dust. Exposure to varying levels of noise as produced by machinery and related activities.
