The University of Alberta and Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute are home to some of the premier programs in the country, including Cardiac Critical Care, Acute Coronary Syndrome, Pulmonary Hypertension, Adult Congenital Heart Disease, Heart Failure and Advanced Heart Failure, with the advanced Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU) caring for the full spectrum of critically ill cardiac patients including advanced ventilatory support, renal replacement therapy, hemodynamic monitoring, transcatheter mechanical support capabilities and overflow post Cardiac Surgery patients.

Our Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) Area of Focused Competence (AFC) Interventional Cardiology Fellowship Program was the first in Canada and is a model of formative education and mentorship.
