    Position Overview

If this sounds like you, your skills and characteristics make you an ideal fit for our Technologist 2 – MRS Compliance role.In this position, your main responsibility will involve aligning business needs with technology to ensure the smooth functioning of our operations concerning the British Columbia Utilities Commission (BCUC) Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) Standards. Utilizing both your business acumen and technical expertise, as a Compliance Technologist, you will be involved in analyzing, designing, configuring, implementing, and maintaining information systems, data centers, virtual infrastructures, networking components, and security.

    In this role, you will:

    • Gain insights into the BCUC CIP requirements and their relevance to regulated FortisBC Electrical operations.
    • Offer initial technical support, undertake system administration, and partake in system development.
    • Collaborate with senior technicians on extensive projects that span multiple departments to install, upgrade, or repair vital business systems, such as SQL, Hyper-V, and Layer 2 and 3 networking devices.
    • Acquire skills in creating detailed documentation and proof of completed tasks for both internal and external audits.
    • Effectively handle, oversee, and manage requests from diverse business units through the CIP change control process from inception to business approval.
    • Coordinate, suggest, and execute technical solutions based on optimal business practices and FortisBC's current infrastructure and software selection during the incorporation, alteration, or retirement of BCUC CIP Standards.

    Qualifications:

    • A Technology diploma in Computer Science, Electronics Technology, or a related field from a post-secondary institution.
    • Two (2) years of relevant experience in technology.
    • Foundational knowledge in programming, scripting, and/or database query languages.
    • A sharp eye for detail, focusing on delivering precise, reliable, and high-quality data in high-pressure environments.
    • Outstanding organizational capabilities to handle a wide array of projects spanning various departments.
    • Exceptional communication skills for collaborating with diverse stakeholders, understanding their requirements, and offering tailored solutions.
