POSITION:


The Manager, Perfusion and Ex-Vivo Program, provides exemplary leadership in the clinical and financial management of all aspects surrounding the Perfusion and Ex-Vivo Department at the UHN.

Working in collaboration with the interprofessional team across a variety of programs, the incumbent will be accountable for the strategic direction, development and overall supervision of the Perfusion & Organ Perfusion Specialist staff, as well as financial accountability for the Perfusion, Left Ventricular Device, and Ex-vivo programs.

Job responsibilities include development and implementation of departmental outcome measures, management of short term/long term plans ensuring quality professional clinical practice and managing the department's financial resources.

The incumbent will also take a leadership role in the development of the profession by collaborating with affiliated Canadian academic institutions and North American Perfusion programs and academic professional societies; independent and interdisciplinary peer-reviewed and funded research projects will be pursued as well as the overall departmental research program developed.


QUALIFICATIONS & ATTRIBUTES:

  • Bachelor's Degree is required, Master's preferred
  • Certification by the Canadian Society of Clinical Perfusion (CSCP)
  • Completion of an accredited Perfusion program, or recognized equivalent
  • Up to five (5) years relevant experience required
  • Three 35 years management or supervisory experience required
  • Proven negotiation skills
  • Excellent management and strategic planning skills required
  • Experience managing the development, implementation, evaluation and maintenance of quality improvement initiatives
  • Experience contributing to the development, implementation and evaluation of clinical research projects
  • Demonstrated initiative and good judgement with ability to multitask
  • Effective organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and collaborates with others in assisting with the delivery of patient care
  • Proven and well developed operational and financial management experience required
  • Ability to work effectively and demonstrates composure under pressure/stressful conditions and to meet multiple and competing deadlines
  • Demonstrates success or experience in change management
  • Excellent skills in recognizing and analyzing problems and using a team approach in resolving them.
