Position Overview:
The Business Analyst will provide expertise and support complex business processes implemented in the Finning organization.

This role will support the global organization through needs assessments, reviewing functionality and provide recommendations on enhancements to align with business strategies.

Working with project managers, this role will play a key part in delivering enhancements through diligent testing, quality control and focusing on security as well as data integrity.

The Business Analyst will report directly with the BA Team Lead providing project support and delivery, requiring those in the role to have strong communication skills.


Job Description:


Major Job Functions:

  • Translate business requirements into functional technical specifications
  • Provide support according to SLA'S when analyzing software problems, data issues, and workflows and recommending solutions
  • Test automatically delivered enhancements as part of Vendor Releases
  • Provide data interpretation and analytics through reporting, audits and collection of data to support complex operational decisions
  • Prepare/maintain detailed support documentation for assigned business systems
  • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders on upgrades, patches, enhancements, testing, validation and overall performance management of the system
  • Provide guidance about security
  • Provide data management guidance, procedures and policies
  • Work with Operations teams globally to understand the needs of the business and related communities

Accountability:

  • Ensures assigned business analysis tasks are completed in a timely and efficient manner to support the objectives of the business unit and Finning Canada, Finning UK and Finning South America
  • Produces business analysis documentation that is of excellent quality, adequately describes the business needs and is understood by the reviewers, approvers, and users of the material
  • Ensures compliance with Finning's change control processes related to the systems development life cycle
  • Represents the company in a professional and ethical manner
  • Maintains effective relationships with internal departments and staff while maintaining company confidentiality
  • Takes direction from senior project members and departmental leaders
  • Handles difference of opinion with the highest level of professionalism and decorum
  • Understands and adheres to Finning policies and procedures, including safety

Qualifications for the role:

  • Post-Secondary Diploma or Degree in a related Information Technology (IT) discipline
  • Experience with Cloud based onperm technology is preferred, specific Workday Experience an asset
  • 35 years related business analysis, business system analysis & support experience
  • Combination of Education and/or experience related to a specific business area is required
  • Open to the role being based in Edmonton
