Collections Officer
6-month Temporary Contract ($24.85/hr.)
Under the direction of the Conservator, the incumbent is responsible for administrating collection
moves at the Pickering Museum Village.
Successful applicants will possess the following:
- Post-secondary education in Conversation, Museum Studies, or demonstrated work experience.
- damage and performing artifact cleaning.
- Experience in packing and moving collections an asset.
- Ability to work independently is essential
- Ability to use a forklift is an asset.
- A strong knowledge of health and safety, especially in working with gas, steam, vehicular and
required. Demonstrated ability to identify and mitigate hazards is required.
- This position requires physical exertion to pack artifacts for transfer. Some artifacts are located in
the Collections Officer use extensive personal protective equipment. An ability to lift up to 25 lbs.,
work in personal protective equipment, and mitigate hazards due to poor collections storage is
required
- Ability to work effectively to complete the project in the time provided is essential
