About The Opportunity:

Working as an integral part of the Yúustway Health and Wellness Department.

Reporting to the Manager of the Community Health and Wellness division, the Community Wellness and Substance Use Counsellor is a registered and experienced clinician who is a valued member of our community-based interdisciplinary health and wellness team.

They practice from a place of respect for, and a willingness to learn about, the Squamish worldview that recognizes and honours the values, beliefs and customs of individuals, families and the community, as well as adhering to best practices current to their field.

This person collaborates effectively and creatively with the client, their family, team members, including other Counsellors and Social Workers, our Elder Advisors, and partners to assess client need, and provide and/or coordinate holistic wraparound care for concurrent disorders.

The Community Wellness and Substance Use Clinician provides individual, couples, and group counselling, liaises with other Squamish Nation departments, partner Nations, and community supports, helps the client to navigate the relevant systems, provides advocacy where necessary, and initiates and supports departmental programming and projects.

We are looking for someone who is flexible, creative, passionate and who takes a holistic approach to their work, has excellent counselling skills and will work collaboratively with our interdisciplinary team, community and partners.

3+ years concurrent disorder experience is essential.


What You Bring:


  • Combination of relevant experience, education, and training.
  • Understanding of, and competency in, culturally sensitive counselling techniques.
  • Proficient understanding in and adherence to code of ethics, confidentiality, and limits to confidentiality.
  • Utilizes significant clinical judgement regarding confidentiality of dual roles and multiple relationships in an Indigenous community.
  • Professional, adaptable communication style with strong interpersonal skills.
  • High level of emotional intelligence, patience and integrity.
  • Maintains composure in highpressure situations.
  • Able to disseminate complex information to stakeholders.
  • Resourceful and organized with excellent time management abilities.
  • Able to deliver information with tact and diplomacy.
  • Teamoriented with a positive, approachable attitude.

Salary:
$ 100,477 - $ 114,179 annually, plus a comprehensive benefits program
