Scope


Providing leadership to the Bell staff by assigning duties and overseeing their day-to-day work, ensuring the smooth operation of the department.


Responsibilities:


  • Performing the duties of a Bellhop including greeting guests upon arrival and opening doors; providing parking directions and controlling incoming and outgoing traffic; valet parking cars and retrieving upon request; storing luggage; assisting with transporting luggage; assisting guests in arranging transportation services; providing information about the Hotel, its layout, and services; delivering items to guest rooms as requested
  • Training and onboarding new Bellhops in the duties of the role and in providing expected service levels
  • Under direction from the Guest Services Manager and Concierge, overseeing the work of the Bellhops, providing support as needed
  • Running the Bell kiosk, assigning checkins, valet retrieval, and taxiordering duties
  • Ensuring accurate logging and tracking of guest requests, left luggage, inventory items on loan and their return, etc.
  • Leading, motivating, and coaching Bellhops to maximize productivity and guest satisfaction
  • Actively participating in guest resolution processes, providing leadership and guidance to teammates
  • Daily inspection of associate grooming and uniforms
  • Helping ensure the lobby, bell closet, work area, and department equipment are clean, sanitary, and presentable at all times
  • Maintaining a close relationship with other Hotel departments, sharing pertinent information as required to ensure high guest satisfaction
  • Maintaining indepth knowledge of Banff National Park, activities, and dining options
  • Other related duties as assigned
Physical Demands

  • Constant standing and walking
  • Frequent lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds / 23 kg
  • Occasional pushing of luggage carts weighing up to 200 pounds / 90 kg
  • Occasional lifting items weighing up to 100 pounds / 45 kg
  • Occasionally working outside in cold or hot weather for extended periods of time

Qualifications:


  • Able to meet the physical demands of the position
  • Must have a valid class 5 Alberta driver's license and clean driver's abstract
  • Must obtain a class 4 Alberta driver's license within a specified time period
  • Must be available to work flexible hours including overnight shifts on rotation
  • Must be comfortable driving large trucks, luxury vehicles, and vehicles with standard transmission
  • Previous guest services or bell desk experience preferred
  • Customerservice oriented
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Demonstrates a professional, friendly personality in person and over the phone
  • Organized, with a great eye for detail
  • Capable of managing multiple tasks at once while maintaining high quality work
  • Computer literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
