Position Summary:


  • Reporting to the Manager, Varsity & Operations, the Strength & Conditioning Coordinator is responsible for the development, implementation, and monitoring of the highperformance sport conditioning programs in consultation with each varsity head coach for all 15 Varsity Athletic Teams. Programs will be developed & implemented with the goal of supporting Seneca studentathletes and coaches in their pursuit of OCAA and CCAA championships. This position will oversee the safe use of all Strength & Conditioning equipment, including purchasing, repairs, and maintenance. This will also include the monitoring of team/athlete progress with the Athletic Therapy Team.

Responsibilities:


Strength & Conditioning Programming

  • Delivers all components of the sport conditioning plan to each assigned Sting athletic team in a manner that is consistent with the operation of a successful, yearround strength and conditioning program.
  • Oversees, plans, and schedules strength programs for all 13 varsity programs.
  • Plans and performs a variety of fitness appraisals and physiological testing protocols for high performance athletes on a yearly basis or as requested by varsity coaches.
  • Designs individual and team exercise programs based on test results and in consultation/partnership with varsity athletics Head Coaches and/or Varsity Coordinators.
  • Followsup appropriately with Head Coaches and/or designates about team/athlete progress and presents annual reports with key performance indicators for each team.

Administration

  • Meet and communicate regularly with Athletic Department staff (coaches and coordinators) to guide program planning and to ensure programming objectives are being met on a team and individual level.
  • Develop planning and tracking documents for implementation of strength program for teams and individuals.
  • Development of training programs, general and sport specific that positively impact the preparation, performance and recovery of varsity studentathletes.
  • Develop and utilize monitoring tools to ensure that goals & objectives are being met and used to inform future programming.

Recovery & Nutrition

  • Communicates and Coordinates with Certified Athletic Therapy staff on an as needs/as requested basis. Upon request, orients members and varsity athletes on appropriate rehabilitation services and or directs them to the attention of the Athletic Injury Clinic/Medical staff personnel.
  • Nutritional education to varsity studentathletes regarding supplements, dietary support, meal planning and understanding of benefits of nutritional game planning.

Departmental Support

  • Participation and support of Athletics & Recreation department activities. Including but not limited to Provincial & National Championship Hosting, Athletic Banquet, Live in the Hive, and special events.
  • Support supervision of fitness and Wellness Centre spaces.
  • Other Duties as Assigned

Qualifications:


Education

  • Minimum completed two (2) year diploma in Fitness & Health Promotion, Kinesiology or a related field. If education is in a related field, please state how it is relevant.
  • National Strength & Conditioning Association
  • Certified Personal Trainer (NSCA
  • CPR) certification is required.
  • National Strength and Conditioning Association
  • Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach (NSCA
  • CSCS) would be an asset.

Experience

  • Minimum two (2) years' experience working in a college, university or highperformance sport environment.

Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Time management skills, scheduling of times and locations in advance with coaches, coordinators, and Seneca studentathletes.
  • Develop programming that is beneficial to all varsity studentathletes.
  • Demonstrate correct processes/procedures and provide direction.
  • Motivational skills to keep studentathletes focused.
