Summary:


Within the context of a patient, client and family centred model of care and, in accordance with the Mission, Vision and Values, and strategic directions of Providence Health Care, promotes a safe, respectful, and civil working environment for patients, residents, families, visitors and staff.


Reporting to the Executive Director, Health Information Management (HIM), the Director, HIM Strategic Planning & Projects works collaboratively to provide key strategic leadership and project management in the planning, development, communication and deployment of the Lower Mainland HIM strategic plan throughout Fraser Health, Providence Health Care, Provincial Health Services Authority and Vancouver Coastal Health (collectively, the "Organizations").

The position ensures alignment and integration between the strategic and operational plans at all levels of HIM and Providence Health Care (PHC) and HIM's serviced organizations.

Oversees the Project Management Office (PMO) function within HIM and leads complex HIM projects. Monitors and reports on the progress of key HIM strategic and business objectives. Liaises both internally and externally and maintains strong stakeholder relationships. Represents HIM on Lower Mainland, Regional and Provincial Councils, Working Groups and Committees as assigned.


Qualifications / Skills and Education:

Education
Master's degree in Health Information Science, Health Services Administration, Business Administration or other relevant discipline.

Minimum of ten (10) years' experience, including experience in the development, implementation, management and evaluation of strategic and operational plans and projects in a large complex organization with a wide range of stakeholder groups.

Demonstrated commitment to on-going learning and professional development. PMP Certification, Continuous Quality Improvement (e.g., LEAN) and/or CHIMA certification is an asset.

Skills and Abilities

Comprehensive knowledge of project management principles and methodologies and ability to coach staff on these skills.

Duties and Responsibilities:


Develops, leads, and implements a collaborative strategic planning process that includes the HIM leadership, and other organizational and partner stakeholders.

Develops and maintains strong working relationships with PHC and serviced Organizations leaders of strategic planning.

Acts as key point person for the Organizations to ensure alignment of strategic plans, and to further HIM's contribution to health system improvement and transformation through collaborative system-wide projects.

Ensures appropriate coordination with the Organizations and other partners for the achievement of common strategic initiatives and HIM service commitments.


Develops and oversees processes to ensure that operational plans and project related initiatives are aligned with the strategic plan and goals of HIM.

Develops a reporting and evaluation framework for the strategic plan and ensures adaptation to the changing external environment.


Oversees the HIM Project Management Office including developing an integrated and collaborative process to identify, select and prioritize new projects.
