The Data Specialist, Finance Change is a key role to help deliver on the Finance data strategy and is a champion for building data literacy and maturity across Finance.
The Data Specialist is also accountable for delivering on data privacy and governance guidelines including data retention and quality metrics.

- Work proactively with internal Finance team members, other business divisions including legal, privacy and data governance on the DP/DG risk return to tolerance (RTT) project initiatives; including but not limited to:
- Mitigating control gaps and embedding DG/DP controls in Finance change activity
- Build automated data retention processes-
- Engage with risk and/or external auditors as necessary on testing, evidence and iCARE updates
- Key contributor to the Finance Data Quality Assurance (DQA) forum which may include preparing meeting materials, scribe and/or facilitator as well as the quarterly DQA Scorecard
- Participate in building data governance and privacy capabilities within Finance, ensuring data strategies and principles are applied consistently and data risks are considered throughout the data lifecycle
- Ensure data within Finance systems is complete and accurate
- Contribute to the development and implementation of procedures/processes within the Finance Change team
- Develop data quality KPIs and reporting metrics for Finance
- Continue to build Finance data dictionary and MI inventories
- Collaborate with IT, Architecture to improve data standards and practices to leverage data as a strategic asset
- Ensure business changes impacting Finance systems are understood, communicated, and implemented in a timely manner
- Manage the DQA Issue Log, including follow-up and/or managing the resolution of issues, and raising to Data Governance Office, or ORCM if applicable
- Ensure Finance data risks and issues are actively communicated, with risk position understood
- Take a proactive approach to enable the effective use of data solutions while taking a risk-based approach to protect Aviva data
- Represent Finance when participating in Data Impact Assessments (DIA) or Privacy Impact Assessments (PIA)
- Support development of updates for DQA, DGO, IT and/or the Finance SLT
What you'll bring:
- CPA/CA designation 5+ years of relevant experience in data environment
- Knowledge and experience in data management and data stewardship
- Work as part of a highly motivated team to deliver the whole team objectives
- Ability and desire to inspire change in a sophisticated and innovative environment
- Demonstrated successful organizational, planning, and problemsolving skills
- Excellent communication and organization skills, with the ability to foster and build good working relationships across the organization
- Can work independently and be proactive
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- Good working knowledge of MS office suite
- Experience in data profiling an asset
- Experience with reporting and data platforms and their querying languages. i.e., Qlik Sense, Business Objects
- Insurance (Property/Casualty) experience an asset
- Accountancy qualification an asset but not essential
