Description
The consultant will support the client by creating the conditions for the team to frequently deliver high-user value / high-quality products, allow the team to self-organize, remove impediments, shield the team from outside distractions, and continuously promote and support the team's use of Agile and Scrum.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance and continuous improvement of Agile events and project/program management practices.
- Support the Product Owner to ensure teams actions are aligned with the Product goals, vision, and roadmap.
- Identify and action impediments that interfere with team progress and achievement of the team's goals (for example, using burndown charts at standups, reviewing OKRs (Objective and Key Results) on an ongoing basis, identifying risks etc.).
- Clear obstacles in the team's path (for example, dependencies on other teams), maintain a list of risks, impediments, and improvements.
- Ability to navigate, communicate and decipher trends using team metrics (for example, velocity), DevOps, IT metrics along with barometer scores and progress against OKRs).
- Facilitate team events (planning sessions, retrospectives, midcycle reviews, and demos).
- Organize the processes of decomposition and story/task estimation. Coordinate crossteam technology dependencies.
- Coordinate interaction with other teams and any other relevant product level synchronizations.
- Support identification of tradeoffs between shortterm and longterm benefits to drive shared vision between the team and Product Owner.
- Identify ways to strengthen teams' understanding and adoption of Agile concepts and principles.
- Foster a continuous learning environment, helping teams to inspect and adapt. Role model and coach Agile behaviors as needed.
- Create and maintain an atmosphere of trust through facilitation of retrospectives and feedback exchange among team members.
- Bring transparency to Business and IT organizations about team and Product development.
- Bring an element of project management skills to the team to assist in planning larger initiatives that require an organized timeline.
Qualifications and Skills
- Completed an undergraduate Degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field.
- Minimum 3 years' experience in project management, program management or business analysis.
- Minimum 3 years' experience as a dedicated Scrum Master.
- Capable of building strong relationships with squads and individuals, building a reputation as a trusted advisor, coach, and friend.
- Ability to lead proactive resolution of intraorinter squad conflicts.
- Familiar with Agile and leverages relevant frameworks (e.g. Scrum or Kanban) to optimize squad outcomes.
- Advanced knowledge of the software development lifecycle, Agile principles, the Scrum Framework and Kanban.
Job Requirement
- Must have security Clearance: Reliability or Secret
- Scrum Master certification (e.g., DASM, DASSM, PSM)
- Knowledge of Azure DevOps (ADO)
- Knowledge of Planview Portfolios
- Fluently bilingual in both official languages, French and English
Location:
National Capital Region (NCR): Ottawa-Gatineau Region
This role may include a hybrid or remote depending on the client's requirements
Job Types:
Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
Work Location:
Hybrid remote in Kanata, ON K2K 3E7
