Position Summary:


This position is responsible for engaging with participants in a Probation setting, promoting the benefits of engaging with employment services provision available in the catchment area to both potential participants and Probation Service staff, developing an indivualized plan for participants to meaningfully engage with employment services, delivering short employment focussed interventions, collaborating with Service Providers and partners regarding specific participant needs and managing a referral pathway to Service Providers in the catchment area.


Essential Responsibilities:


  • Lead on engagement with federal and provincial level officials on behalf of Fedcap Canada.
  • Engage with Probation Services staff to identify participants that could benefit from support delivered by local employment services providers.
  • Through a motivational interviewing process, develop individualized personcentered plans.
  • Deliver short employment focused interventions, including 21st Century work readiness, to motivate participants to engage with, and maximize the volume of referrals through to employment services provision including use of immersive technology.
  • Lead on development of special initiatives designed to improve outcomes for specific participant groups.
  • Manage participant referrals though to local employment services providers.
  • Work with local employment services providers to ensure all referred participants are supported during the referral process and for a period of 4 weeks post referral.
  • Follow up contact with participants referred to local employment services providers to minimize the risk of the participant failing to sustain engagement.
  • Manage participant files, including progress notes and report on progress toward goals for ongoing follow up.
  • Provide connections to local community resources where appropriate.
  • Attend meetings and participate in professional development training offered.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement activities and promote new ways of working.

Education and Experience:


  • Bachelor's Degree in any related field.
  • Experience providing services in a federal or provincial custodial envorinment or in a probation setting.
  • Be willing to undergo routine criminal background check and discuss any concerns that arise.
  • Experience working with public assistance recipients, homeless, formally incarcerated, and/or those affected by the similar challenges.
  • Knowledge of criminal justice issues, populations and sociocultural issues.
  • Excellent facilitating skills.

Supervisory Responsibility:

There is no supervisory responsibility for this role.


Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment, custodial and probation settings. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
