JOB SUMMARY


Under the direction of the Business Development and Event Coordinator, this position is responsible for providing unsupervised front-line customer service to rental clients, vendors, and event guests of the Markham Museum.


Hours:
We are looking for week night or weekend shifts.

Shifts for this position will fluctuate depending on season and peak periods, with the majority of shifts taking place on weekends and evenings (ending at times as late as 2:00am).


JOB DUTIES

  • Will be required to work independently and with no onsite supervision during afterhours events.
  • Monitor site and person security and alert the Business Development & Event Coordinator or designate, on any urgent event/rental related issues and emergencies. Be the contact for Emergency Services if required
  • Complete an end of day status report for events/rentals. Including any security issues or issues related to interactions with caterers, or event guests / visitors
  • Have knowledge of city policy and procedure and ensure client agreements are being adhered to as per the direction of the Business Development & Event Coordinator or designate.
  • Ensure a safe and accessible environment for rental guests by correcting inappropriate behavior
  • Open and close the Museum grounds and its various buildings, ensuring that all buildings are locked, alarms have been set and assets have been secured at closing.
  • If there it has been determined that additional security is required for an event, provide direction to the hired guards
  • Provide direction to rental guests/clients to assist them in locating their venue on Museum property. If required monitor and direct traffic in the parking lot and/or on site.
  • Liaise with rental clients and oversee vendors during event setup and takedown and advise client of any concerns. Contact Business Development and Event Coordinator if required. Contact Emergency Services if required.
  • Perform general cleaning/maintenance of rental space and washrooms as required (i.e. mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, cleaning washrooms/dressing rooms, clearing and salting walkways, garbage pickup, setups and breakdowns of tables and chairs as required).
  • Maintain constant communication with onsite staff regarding event details and guest location, to ensure coordination of site use by multiple clients. If the Museum is open to the public follow directions and/or give direction to other staff on site as required for safe operation of all activity.
  • Maintains awareness and ensures client compliance with City of Markham Rules and Regulations.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications/_Experience_**- Must be 18+ years

  • Minimum 1 year experience in a Customer Service capacity.
  • Must be able to work independently with mínimal supervision.
  • Experience working public events and/or in security

Licenses/Certifications

  • Standard First Aid with CPR 'C'
  • AED certified.
  • Driver's License is an asset.
  • Superior customer service and communication skills.
  • Able to follow detailed instructions
  • Smart Serve Certificate an asset.
  • Security guard training an asset
