We are seeking a
Chief Pilot for our
Flight Operations team
to join our rapidly expanding, dynamic organization Reporting to the Director, Flight Operations/Operations Manager, the Chief Pilot is responsible for managing all activities pertaining to the airline's pilots.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:


  • Responsible for the professional standards of the flight crews under his/her authority
  • Implement the company's safety policy and ensure that the pilot group operates with the highest possible safety standards
  • Provide strong, visible and inspired leadership to the Lynx Air pilot group
  • Achieve a safe, reliable, efficient and costeffective work force to ensure Lynx Air's continued growth plans are met
  • Establish and maintain a regular cadence of communication with the pilot group, ensuring regular feedback is received and responded to
  • Act as a voice of the company and promote the company's strategy to frontline employees, vendors, and OEMs
  • Develop pilot hiring standards and strategy in concert with the People & Culture team
  • Ensure the pilot group is properly organized, staffed, developed and motivated
  • Invest time connecting with the pilot group on current and future issues related to pilot working conditions
  • Develop and continuously improve standard operating procedures
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with ALPA on issues related to the pilot group
  • Identify deficiencies and develop strategies to ensure that Flight Crew are mentored and disciplined in accordance with Company policies and procedures
  • Liaise with the Inflight Manager on matters pertaining to operational issues involving Cabin Crew
  • Liaise with the Operations Manager on issues that pertain to Flight Crew working conditions
  • Develop and/or implement all required approved training programs for Lynx Air pilots
  • Develop and maintain approved programs, in accordance with the Approved Check Pilot ('ACP') Manual, for Initial and Recurrent qualifications of Check Pilots
  • Monitor Check Pilot performance and provide feedback as required
  • Create and maintain scripted Pilot Proficiency Checks ('PPC')
  • Perform other responsibilities delegated by the Director, Flight Operations
  • Issue bulletins, directives and notices to the flight crews as required
  • Determine operational suitability and requirements of all airports and routes served by Lynx Air
  • Action and distribution of accident, incident, and other occurrence reports
  • Process and action any IQMS and flight crew reports, including corrective actions to findings
  • Assume any responsibilities delegated by the Operations Manager
  • Maintain currency as a Lynx Air captain
  • Attend safety management (SMS) committee meetings
  • Establish and maintain key relationships with other company departments
  • Ensure all flight operations personnel are properly instructed in the execution of their duties, and the relationship of those duties, to the operation
  • Actively participate in, and be a proponent of, all company human resources, safety management, and quality assurance practices

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE:

  • Hold a valid Airline Transport Pilot License, a valid Instrument Rating, and a type rating for at least one of the types of operated
  • Have at least 3 years pilotincommand experience:
  • of an aeroplane referred to in paragraph a) of the Canadian Aviation Regulations; and
- in the weight group (more or less than 100,000 lbs); and
- in domestic and international passenger operations

  • Be qualified for line flying in Lynx Air operations
  • Demonstrate knowledge to the Minister with respect to the content of the Company Operations Manual, Training Manuals, Standard Operating Procedures, Approved Check Pilot Manual (if applicable), and the provisions of the Regulations and Standards necessary to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the position; and
