Description

Matalco Inc. operates a manufacturing facility in Brampton, Ontario and is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Electrical Apprentice.

This role will primarily be responsible for ensuring the ongoing operation of production equipment and will replace, repair and perform preventative maintenance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Respond quickly to breakdowns and safety concerns, in order to resolve issues and reduce any possible downtime to a minimum;
Monitor operations through preventative maintenance checks to anticipate and prevent any possible production loss due to equipment failure;
Troubleshoot all plant equipment and make repairs as required;
Provide general support to production through maintenance of plant equipment;
Safely rigging and moving heavy equipment components and/or other materials;
Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

WORK CONDITIONS, ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND PHYSICAL CAPABILITIES:

Comfortable working in a heavy industry environment
Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems;
Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs.;

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be pursuing a valid 442A Industrial Electrician license;
Previous maintenance experience within a Aluminum/Hot Metal industry is preferred but not required;
Demonstrated ability to maintain and troubleshoot industrial equipment within a challenging, steady paced production environment;
Experience maintaining and troubleshooting pneumatics, hydraulics, mechanical power transmission, and natural gas systems;
Experience maintaining, rigging, operating overhead cranes and performing inspections;
Previous experience working with mínimal supervision when required.
