Before and After School Care Worker
Care (BASC) worker.

The anticipated start date is June 3, 2024. This is a casual position available during the school

year. Anticipated hours of work are between 07:30-08:30 am and/or 3:30-5:30 pm Monday to

Friday.

This position will suit an individual who enjoys working with children and serving others, team
player, detail oriented, accurate and able to follow up, likes to plan ahead but can adapt to last
minute changes, has a positive attitude, and wants to learn and grow in an environment where
serving God together is rewarding and meaningful.

**STATUS: Casual

JOB SUMMARY:
The Before and After School Care (BASC) Worker assists with taking care of children in
Kindergarten through Grade 6 registered in the BASC program. The BASC worker may assist with other
duties as may be assigned. Generally, the BASC worker will be present for either/or both the A.M. and P.M
shift.

KEY PROGRAM RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with morning set up;
  • Provide morning childcare (supervise free play, lead activities, respond to needs, interact with
children and their parents, sign children in).

rovide afternoon childcare (supervise free play and outdoor time, lead activities, respond to
- needs, sign children out);

  • Assist with afternoon clean up.

ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES:


Annually review:

  • BASC staff and parent handbook, training materials;
  • BASC attendance process, class lists, and use of BASC childcare management software;
  • LCS emergency protocols
  • Weekly:
  • Check shift schedule, room assignments, and BASC team communications;
  • Assist with weekly cleaning of toys and equipment.
  • Daily:
  • Help resolve issues between students;
  • Communicate any illness, injuries, incidents, behavior, or safety concerns to a Supervisor;
  • Ensure daily attendance lists are accurate and complete.

COMMUNICATION RESPONSIBILITIES:

Check in with the BASC Supervisor to receive daily program/student updates.

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION:


  • Experience working with children;
  • Computer and technical skills;
  • Strong interpersonal skills;
  • Flexible thinking and willingness to seek support to solve problems;
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.

Additional qualifications/Skills

  • Enjoy working with and caring for children in Kindergarten through to Grade 6;***Ability to be a strong, empathic listener, quick to seek support to respond to difficult situations.
