Reporting to the Senior Manager, Heritage Planning, you will manage staff and resources in the delivery of divisional development review and policy-related projects, in accordance with provincial and municipal legislation, and lead the development of policy for heritage planning and conservation purposes.

As a Program Manager you will also be involved in managing complex studies, heritage planning initiatives and related policy within the Heritage Planning Unit, Urban Design.

Another key aspect of your mission in this critical role will be managing staff in securing, through the development review process, studies and legal agreements that bind heritage property owners and/or Council to ensure the conservation of heritage resources, including Designation By-laws, Heritage Easement Agreements, Heritage Impact Assessments, Conservation Plans and Letters of Credit.

A persuasive communicator with strong presentation skills, you will represent the Unit and City heritage planning interests before the Toronto Preservation Board, Community Councils, Planning and Housing Committee and other standing committees, advisory committees and administrative tribunals such as the Ontario Land Tribunal (OLT), the and the Property Standards Review Board.

This mandate calls for a recognized professional with extensive experience leading the development and implementation of heritage planning policies, strategies and solutions, providing strategic advice in the conservation of heritage resources and properties, and leading multiple, complex projects demanding a high level of critical judgment and analytical thinking.

Your expertise in this specialized field is well supported by a post-secondary education in planning, architecture or a job related professional discipline, or an equivalent educational and work background making you eligible to obtain professional membership in the Canadian Association of Heritage Professionals (CAHP).

Experience working in an Ontario municipality would be an asset.

An innovative, outcome-oriented leader, you have successfully managed and motivated staff through such means as conducting performance reviews, appraisals and plans, while ensuring high standards of organizational performance.

Your accomplishments will also include a proven track record in performing program or policy reviews, including assessing program delivery and performance with the goal of driving continuous improvement.
