Material Handler
(must have a valid forklift license for consideration)
Reports to:
Manufacturing Team Leader
Location: 9 Napoleon Road - Barrie, Ontario
Shift: 3:30 p.m. - 2:00 a.m., Monday to Thursday
Wage:
$21.75/hr. (plus applicable shift premiums)
Requirements:
Must have a Valid Forklift License for consideration
Job Purpose:
Material Handlers are required to operate a forklift truck and must be able to load/unload trailers, storage bins and racks and deliver these products to their desired locations.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Must have complete knowledge of all Material Handling practices.
- Must be able to work independently and react effectively to line change over minimizing downtime for production.
- Place items into storage area and consolidate bins as required. Utilize RFQ and Visual to access location, change location and see if material is coming.
- Manage footprint to consolidate, sorts and stack products and parts.
- Pick and deliver parts from storage area from the proper location and deliver to the desired location or machine in an effective manner.
- Must be able to complete an accurate inventory count of all SKUs or locations within their area of responsibility as directed.
- May be required to move material using a pump truck or offload product by hand, from incoming trailers, palletizing and shrink wrapping when necessary.
- Be able to multitask and work in a fastpaced environment with changing priorities. May provide product or parts to multiple lines and machines.
- Must abide by all Health & Safety regulations and comply with the principles of the ISO program.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and maintain all equipment requiring maintenance according to maintenance guidelines and established procedures.
- Continue to grow Lean knowledge and use the tools to identify and assist with continuous improvement to product and processes.
Education and Experience:
- Minimum high school diploma, or GED, or 3 years relevant manufacturing / warehousing experience.
- Minimum 1 2 years' experience driving a forklift in a manufacturing setting.
- Forklift certificate required.
- RF scanner experience.
- ERP or MRP experience (Visual) preferred.
- Fork Truck Safety Course and Driving Certificate.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to think independently while working with mínimal supervision
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to function in a fastpaced multifunctional environment where priorities change regularly.
