Job Profile:


There is a temporary opening for the above position within the Planning Services Division - Policy Planning of the Community Development Department available immediately.


What you will be doing:


  • Provide support to Legislated review expectations for Heritage properties as well as support for Housing Accelerator Fund (HAF) projects related to housing initiatives.
  • Assists with the development and implementation of financial incentive program delivery and monitoring (e.g. affordable housing, brownfields) which may include assisting with the development or modification of Community Improvement Plans.
  • Compiles and analyzes data on demographic, housing, economic, cultural, sociological, physical and other factors affecting land use.
  • Makes presentations to the Committee of Council and at neighborhood meetings on policy projects and city initiated official plan and/or zoning bylaw amendments. May attend O.L.T. hearings as an expert witness.
  • Responds to enquiries regarding official plan, zoning bylaw and other planning legislation interpretations, and select funding programs, etc.
  • Designs and undertakes research and special studies related to the official plan, zoning bylaw, secondary plans and other land use planning documents to develop and implement land use policies, including monitoring reports, particularly to facilitate infill or redevelopment projects in the Core or change of use areas. Drafts policies for inclusion in the Official Plan, attends public meetings and prepares reports to Council recommending appropriate policies.
  • Participates in technical coordinating committees, task forces, stakeholders and special study teams as assigned.
  • Provides professional planning opinions for the above duties.

Education:

Undergraduate Level - Four years or equivalent in Urban Design, Planning or Landscape Architecture. Preference will be given to a strong policy background.


Experience and Knowledge:

Four years related Planning experience.

Current memberships in the Canadian Institute of Planning and the Ontario Professional Planning Institute.


For a degree in Landscape Architecture, current memberships with the Ontario Association of Architects and Ontario Association of Landscape Architects is required.

Valid G driver's license.
Worker Health and Safety Awareness Training Certificate from the Ministry of Labour


Your compensation:


This position is within Grade 11 of the inside workers union Salary Schedule and has an annual salary range of $84,275 to $89,569.

Hours of work:

The current regular hours of work are in accordance with the collective agreement, however, currently are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 pm. (35 hours per week), Monday to Friday, with occasional evenings as required.
