Warehouse Sanitation

Position Summary:

The responsibility of the Warehouse Sanitation (Custodian, Pallet Maintenance) is to perform general warehouse cleaning duties that help keep the facility in a clean and orderly condition.

Shift and Compensation:

Sunday to Thursday 2pm10pm $21.92/hour
We are now offering medical, dental, prescription drug, and EAP benefits after 30 days of employment vs 90 (STD, insurances, & RRSP matching will still have a 90 day waiting period)

Specific Responsibilities and Functions:

Perform general warehouse cleaning duties as per the Master Sanitation schedule and janitorial SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures).
Sweep, mop, scrub, vacuum, dust, and sanitize various floors of the warehouse, office space, lunchrooms, and washrooms.
Successfully complete Preventive Maintenance (PMs) that are issued on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis within set timeframes.
Empty recycle and garbage containers regularly.
Check and maintain inventory levels of custodial supplies and replenish when required.
Clean all warehouse zones, pull and clean pallets, dust/clean warehouse floors; average of 10 bays/hour.
Assist with spills in a prompt and efficient manner.
Empty wrap bins and sweep debris from aisles.
Outside cleaning may be required.
Other duties assigned as required.
Adhere to the mission and cornerstone values and applicable practices of the organization.
Adherence to food safety GMP's as per Gordon Food Service Distribution Center Food Safety program.

Working Conditions:

Exposure to three (3) different temperature zones within the warehouse.
Grocery area in the warehouse is room temperature; varies from cold in the winter and warm in the summer.
Cooler area in the warehouse is approximately 1 or 2 degrees C.
Freezer area in the warehouse is approximately 15 degrees C. Some areas of the freezer can get as low as 23 degrees C.
Moderate noise level.
CSA approved steeltoed safety boots must be worn on the warehouse floor.
Occasionally lifting up to 50lbs and exposure to various foodsafe cleaning detergents and soaps.
Must be able to operate various forklifts, battery changer, and floor scrubber. Some basic knowledge of computer operations is required.

Additional Details:

Employees are hired on a fulltime basis. However, given the nature of the position, an employee's hours of work will be irregular. Your hours of work may be scheduled on any day of the week (Monday through Sunday), with varying shifts.
During peak seasons, scheduled overtime is required, and may include up to 13 hour shifts.
There is a 30minute paid lunch for an 8hour shift and 40minute paid lunch for a 10hour shift.
GFS Delivers every day of the year, as we are a 24/7 operation. Employees must be flexible to work all Statutory Holidays, however, this does not necessarily mean that employees will be required to work all of them.
