Summary


The
_Automation Specialist_ is recognized as the technical domain expert, which serves as the foundation of their sales leadership capabilities.

This position is responsible for driving business strategy and growth for the Automation business.

The Automation business includes programmable controllers, safety control systems, input/output (I/O) modules, human machine interface (HMI), industrial computers & monitors, network & security infrastructure, system design software, operations software, and plant maintenance software.

This position is the distributor liaison to Rockwell Automation for defined products, providing technical, marketing, and commercial leadership for sales growth.

This position is also responsible for supporting the commercial plan for the Automation business and takes a lead role in developing a competency plan to ensure support functions (inside/outside sales) are adequately prepared to maximize share gain for the Automation business.

The Distributor Automation Specialist is accountable for the revenue performance of the Automation business.


Job Duties

Sales Leadership Responsibilities

  • Experienced with outcomebased selling and understands industrial business drivers
  • Understands the different personas within the customer (eg. buyer vs influencer) as well as their business drivers
  • Coordinate team efforts as required with Electrozad and Rockwell sales team, and other Distributor Specialists, to identify and close account conversions, projects, and target account opportunities
  • Leads the commercial introduction of new products to market including target setting, marketing, performance, and sales engagement
  • Engage new markets to provide a platform for recurring revenue
  • Capable of creating and executing business plans to exceed growth targets in business revenue and management objectives
  • Manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously, ensuring stakeholder expectations are properly met
  • Administer and implement marketing, promotion programs, and product launches for Rockwell Automation
  • Utilize company CRM package as a tool to drive behavior, gain insights on your business, track opportunity funnel and manage customer relationships

Technical Responsibilities

  • Serve as the domain expert for the Automation business which includes programmable controllers, I/O, HMI, safety, industrial computers, design software, operations software, and plant maintenance software
  • Willingness to participate in ongoing training to maintain technical competency in the Automation business and complimentary product areas
  • Identify and demonstrate technology solutions, both basic and advanced level to enhance the customer experience
  • Understand how data/information is used in the decisionmaking process of all related capabilities from RA, partners, and competitors
  • Understand the trends, drivers, and competing forces to translate into Rockwell solution
  • Communicate commercial and technical product issues to Rockwell Automation domain experts and business units.
  • Provide pre and post sale technical support guidance to the customer

Requirements:


  • Postsecondary education from a technical program (i.e.) Electrical Technologist discipline or equivalent
  • 35 years of industry experience with Rockwell Automation products and solutions
  • Familiarization of competitive offerings would be an asset
  • Strong technical writing & presentation skills with ability to present RA's value proposition to mid / large size groups of customers (external and internal) both commercially and technically
  • Must be a team player that can work autonomously, be selfmotivated, recognizing resources and meeting deadlines
  • Ability to speak with customers, demonstrating technical expertise while instilling confidence and credibility
  • Retain and convey a positive attitude in challenging circumstances
  • Exhibit strong computer skills, including ability to work with Design & Configuration Tools, Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint

Working Conditions

  • Can be based in either of the following locations: Windsor, Chatham, or Sarnia
  • Travel to customers within Windsor, Chatham and Sarnia will be required, with a valid driver's license
  • Must hold a valid passport and be able to travel to the US for yearly training
