The Capital Finance team falls within the Office of Capital Management, supporting the capital asset needs of LHSC. The team works closely with Corporate Accounting to ensure accurate, efficient and timely recording of capital transactions. The culture of teamwork and respect drives the team to support the capital needs of patient care at LHSC.

Job Summary:


The Manager, Capital Finance is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day, month-end, and year-end (including external audit) financial functions for the Capital Accounting and Capital Planning areas.

This position directly manages 5 staff under the Office of Capital Management.


The Manager has strong responsibility related to the full capital accounting cycle and the related internal and external fund accounting.

The role is accountable to liaise with various other departments across the hospital to assist with/address capital issues, concerns and information.

The Manager also has responsibility for the preparation of the annual budget for the Capital Finance department and monthly variance analysis.

This role is accountable for ensuring all internal and external capital financial reporting is done in a timely and accurate manner.


This position is also responsible for coordinating documentation of all internal processes and ensuring internal/external audit recommendations are fulfilled according to the Management responses to auditor findings related to capital.

Reporting to the Director, Capital Finance, the Manager, Capital Finance directs, controls and evaluates the delivery of department services.

They are responsible for translating decisions of the program leadership into execution, by utilizing relationship management and working with internal and external stakeholders to achieve the necessary outcomes.

The Manager ensures their team and department operations are aligned with our mission, vision and values, while working together to successfully achieve our strategic objectives.


This role is accountable for day-to-day department activities, including the management of human and material resources, day-to-day staffing and scheduling, development and support of a healthy workplace, risk and utilization measurements, and facilitation of improvement initiatives and change management, while operating within approved operational budgets and financial guidelines and controls.

A major focus of the role is fostering effective working relationships and networks within the team/unit and with other teams across the organization.
