The
Junior Purchaser position can best be described as a "purchasing" professional who will participate in multiple areas, ensuring that processes related to the overall function and needs of the purchasing department are maintained.

Day to day, short and long term planning are essential components of this position.

Areas of expertise and daily involvement may include:

  • Ensuring adequate stock is ordered and on hand in order to meet production needs.
  • Work with and take direction from Purchasing Manager.
  • Securing special and stock items in the most efficient manner through timing and planning.
  • Combining stock and special orders and job orders to make prepaid freight thresholds and achieve order requirement that yield extra discounts.
  • Work as a conduit with/between suppliers and sales to execute purchase order revisions (price discrepancies, add/delete/change items and ship dates) to ensure company is buying correctly; audit invoices to ensure company is paying correct prices and are being charged correct freight.
  • Manage supplier and item date in current system so buyer/sales staff have current and accurate data to use when creating orders.
  • Control inventory by leveraging various exception reports.

RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Participate in purchasing / inventory requirements in conjunction with Purchasing Manager
  • Share Expertise and train team members on critical aspects of job duties.
  • Possess current working knowledge of all assigned vendor lines.
  • Purchase special and stock items at the right quantity, right cost, and tight timing.
  • Creation of new stock items
  • Create, cut, process purchase orders.
  • Maintain accurate and current supplier and item information to ensure that pricing, terms, and deals are proactively updated in current system.
  • Audit invoices and addressing any issues in a timely fashion where costs and freight terms do not align.
  • Maintain inventory for par levels by using various buying reports to ensure adequate fill rate is available for customers.
  • Assist in providing price lists and reports to sales personnel on equipment products enabling timely and accurate pricing for Sales to provide to customers.
  • Advise sales personnel of outofstock items; estimated availability; and making recommendations for alternate product.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SKILLS/ QUALIFICATIONS

  • 12 years experience of related Purchasing Experience is required.
  • Previous experience in Kitchen / Bathroom Purchasing is a benefit.
  • Ability to multitask at a high level
