Job Information and Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Manager, Maintenance & Operations and the direction of the Lead Arena Operator, the Arena Operator will:
- Operate the refrigeration plant, and ice making equipment, installs the ice and markings, cleans the building, and maintains the ice surface.
- Establish and performs PM routines and performs troubleshooting and repair to the arena building, equipment, ice making equipment, and Zamboni.
- Work closely with any outside agency that is required to perform work on the above noted systems. Uses any such collaboration to enhance knowledge and troubleshooting expertise.
- Assist other maintenance staff in PM, troubleshooting, and maintenance of the arena and ice making equipment.
- Establish a good working knowledge of arena, ice making system, Zamboni, and refrigeration plant.
- Attend training sessions to keep up with technological changes in ice making and maintenance, and operation and maintenance of the refrigeration plant.
Experience and Education Requirements
To be the successful Arena Operator you will have:
- Second Class Refrigeration, OR a Power Engineering License.
- Two (2) years related experience in ice making and arena maintenance.
- Experience in operation of Ice Resurfacing and maintenance of equipment.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to work shift work.
- Ability to perform all duties in a safe manner, following health and safety legislation and all required safe work practices and procedures, in order to minimize the risk of injury and property damage.
- Ability to communicate effectively in a positive manner conveying and responding to information.
- Ability to interact with customers in a positive working relationship.
- Ability to work alone and complete tasks with mínimal supervision.
- Ability to take initiative in completing tasks with mínimal instruction.
