Position Summary:


Roles and Responsibilities of the Position:

  • Oversee administrative requirements and procedures necessary to ensure smooth functioning of POINT's on-site research activities.
  • Assist teams of scientists with behindthescenes coordination of crossfunctional projects.
  • Manage POINT's inventory of chemical and biological materials.
  • Manage amendments to biosafety/animal care permits.
  • Coordinate the logistics and shipping of materials to/from laboratory facilities.
  • Oversee procurement and installation of scientific equipment and consumables with vendors.
  • Acquire and document permits necessary for the receipt of chemical, biological, or radioactive hazardous materials while ensuring full compliance with health and safety protocols in POINT facilities.
  • In conjunction with managers, establish priorities and meet timelines for key projects.

Required Qualifications:


  • Minimum M.Sc in a scientific discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years postgraduate experience is required.
  • Demonstrated success organizing and managing scientific projects.
  • Experience with shipping and receiving of scientific materials and dangerous goods across international borders.
  • Experience with procurement of scientific equipment and consumables through direct engagement with external vendors or sales representatives.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with an interdisciplinary team of scientists.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills
  • Excellent problemsolving and decisionmaking skills.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office, Graphpad Prism, and ChemDraw.

Additional Preferences:


  • Completion of a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a strong asset
  • Knowledge or experience GLP/GMP protocols is an asset.
  • Ph.
D. in a scientific discipline is an asset.

  • Industry experience in pharma/biotechnology is preferred.

Physical Demands/Travel:


  • Work environment is onsite downtown Toronto near College Street and University Avenue at the MaRS building.
  • Anticipate travel for team and client meetings. Travel of up to 10% within North America may be required. A valid passport and/or other travel documents to cross the border is required.
  • Wear standard PPE in the lab is required.
