KEY RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Pricing_
  • Perform actuarial pricing analysis of individual programs across several lines of business (including but not limited to Property, Specialty and Marine/Energy)
  • Assist in the development of new pricing models and make improvements to existing ones.
  • Build out and maintain databases for various economic/insurance industry factors indices.
  • Reserving_
  • Assist reserving actuaries at quarter end with various analysis and reporting requirements as required.
  • Risk Management_
  • Assist risk management actuary to run various analyses on Validus inforce portfolio for board reporting, retro purchasing, and other uses
  • Portfolio optimization and exposure aggregation work
  • Gain familiarity with internal economic capital model and assist in development where possible
Other duties as required


REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in mathematics, statistics, or related field
  • Progress towards designation from Institute of Actuaries, Casualty Actuarial Society, or similar bodies
  • Familiarity with programming, in VBA/Python/R or similar language.
  • Proven organizational and timekeeping skills and a strong sense of attention to detail are essential
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills i.e. a thorough command of the English language including excellent spelling, grammar and punctuation.
  • The ability to deal effectively and courteously with clients and colleagues, and to exercise discretion and confidentiality in all matters.
  • Ability to manage and complete multiple projects within tight timeframe
  • Ability to work independently with minimum direction
