Job Summary


Reporting to the Manager Emergency Planning and Programs, the Emergency Planning Advisor provides Emergency Management Program support in the maintenance, analysis and sustainability of the corporate emergency and business continuity plans, and program documentation.

As a member of the Corporate Security & Emergency Planning team, the incumbent will gain cross functional exposure to all critical business and operational units while supporting the implementation of emergency planning requirements and delivering preparedness awareness activities defined in policy, business continuity standards, and crisis response guidelines.

In this role you will:

  • Maintain, analyze and implement policies and procedures to support the preparation of Business Continuity Plans (BCP) and other plans (e.g. emergency response plan) to ensure that the Company is prepared for and can respond in case of an emergency (all hazards).
  • Participate in the delivery of the enterprise wide emergency management training and awareness exercises and assist in the discussions and operationsbased exercises like drills, tabletops and fullscale.
  • Collaborate with Program team members, work closely with managers and operational staff across the corporation to assist them in implementing emergency planning activities including the completion and maintenance of their business continuity and resumption plans and related emergency response plans.
  • Contribute to business continuity risk analysis by gathering metrics and data related to Emergency Management and collaborate with internal stakeholders to perform impact assessments.
  • Provide information and support to the Program Manager and Program team on emerging trends, developments and external events that impact the Company's readiness to respond to an emergency. Participate in the development and implementation of exercise, monitoring, maintenance and awareness strategies for managers and employees on Emergency Planning and Business Continuity Management.
  • Make recommendations to Program Manager on improvements that would be appropriate to the Company's Emergency Management Framework and related emergency response plans.
  • Attend various meetings and participates in working groups with other regions and business units to support the implementation of afteraction report recommendations and industry leading practices, obtain uptodate information on business continuity, incident management and organizational resilience processes.
  • Collect, review and prepare reports using current information on approaches used by other organizations within the aviation sector who are involved in the development and validation of business continuity plans.
  • Support the research, analysis and implementation of requirements for recovery strategies and improvements to the Company's emergency response, contingency plans, and business continuity plans.
  • Assist in the development, production, procurement and distribution of emergency preparedness and business continuity tools and resources and in the development and maintenance of response procedures.
  • Support the preparation of reports and briefings for program management and communications materials to increase awareness of Company.
  • Serve as a support member of the Company's National Emergency Management Team in the event of an emergency, organize and participate in debriefing meetings after an emergency and collect observations and feedback from participants for improving the program.

What you bring:

  • Post secondary education in a related field OR, the equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience
  • Associate Business Continuity Professional (ABCP credentials granted by DRI International) or equivalent industry certification preferred; commitment to obtain credential within 12 months as condition of employment (supported by employer).
  • A minimum of 1 year of continued experience obtained over the last 3 years in any of the following fields of emergency management: business continuity planning, emergency response planning, crisis management, risk management, disaster recovery planning, cybersecurity, OSH / fire safety planning; graduating or recent graduates from college program in related field of study will also be considered inlieu of verifiable experience
