About the role:


You will contribute by:


  • Oversee all station operations, community engagement and employee engagement for all Global stations in Winnipeg and Saskatchewan.
  • Set the editorial direction for Global stations in Winnipeg and Saskatchewan.
  • Adherence to the Journalistic Practices and Principles, applicable codes of conduct and legal requirements Global stations in Winnipeg and Saskatchewan.
  • Develop and foster a culture that serves each of the platforms (Television, Radio, digital and OTT), ensuring strong local news coverage, community reflection and content.
  • Development of relationships with community leaders and consumers of the onair/online product to ensure that Global News is representative of its local community.
  • Lead and drive achievement of a highperformance culture.
  • Talent retention and development.
  • Achievement of financial targets.
  • With the senior leadership team for Global News, set the strategic direction of stations.
  • Work with the Sales leaders to develop and implement sales opportunities for Global Winnipeg, Global Saskatoon, and Global Regina, ensuring that all sales integrations align with the Journalistic Practices and Principles.
  • Continually look for new opportunities and more efficient/effective ways to accomplish goals/targets.
  • Stay up to date and embrace technological change to ensure Global stations in Winnipeg and Saskatchewan.

Skills and experience you will bring:

  • Degree or diploma in journalism, business, communications, or a related field from a recognized institution.
  • Experienced News Leader that has collaborated with large teams across various regions.
  • Strong, driven communicator with a passion for news.
  • A proven history of mentoring and developing talent.
  • Leads and coaches' news managers to ensure strategic direction is understood.
  • Has proven ability to successfully manage operating plans.
  • Manage change with effective communication, planning and engagement with teams.
  • Extensive knowledge of the principles, procedures, and best practices in the industry.
  • Must be able to adapt under pressure and be able to work in a fastpaced environment.
  • Develop Corus Values with teams, reinforce their importance and personally demonstrate those values.
