This is an exciting new opportunity to work with The Bess and Moe Greenberg Family Hillel Lodge and our Long-Term Care Foundation as we carry out our new strategic direction and strengthen relationships with all partners, donors, and stakeholders.

In this dual reporting role, you will work closely with senior leadership within both organizations to effectively deliver all marketing and communications initiatives, align communication efforts, and build cohesion between the two entities as you execute our communications strategy.

This opportunity is a fit for you if you:

  • Have a strong interest in writing, content development, and strategy,
  • Understand marketing/communications best practices and can weave a common narrative across multiple communications platforms and for a variety of audiences.
  • Are adept at managing a variety of communications tools and strategies for each medium (print, social media, press, web, etc)
  • Are fairly autonomous, but can partner and collaborate well across multiple stakeholders,
  • Are highly organized, have exceptional writing skills, and are creative,
  • Are willing to take on new challenges


The Communications Specialist reports jointly to the Lodge's Chief Executive Officer and the Foundation's Chief Development Officer and supports communications related to both organizations.


Areas of responsibility:


  • Communications strategy implementation: coordinate the development of annual marketing, communication, and social media plans
  • Donor communication and engagement
  • Impact and accountability

Key activities include,

  • Writing, content creation, and editing
  • Develop marketing plans and visibility opportunities
  • Executing communications related to fundraising campaigns and special projects
  • Social media community management, analysis, and reporting related to goals
  • Preparing content for media appearances
  • Develop and execute media announcements, and campaigns
  • Develop compelling presentation tools
  • Coordinate the development of marketing materials, graphics, and visuals
  • Support development and fundraising through marketing communications
  • Monitor and stay abreast of communication and social media trends
  • Prepare marketing and communications reports
  • Manage the communications budget

Desired knowledge, skills, and experience:


  • Graduate or undergraduate education in communications, marketing, or a related field
  • Minimum 5 years experience working in communications and/or marketing
  • Impeccable verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Creative, with strong storytelling and communication skills relevant to fundraising
  • Knowledge of communications best practices; able to support other team members to identify and effectively communicate key messaging, prepare for public speaking engagements, media appearances, etc.
  • Experience and knowledge of best practices for different communications mediums: experience managing a variety of different mediums at once
  • Strong knowledge and experience with social media and online community engagement
  • Strong prioritization and project management skills
  • Ability to multitask and work under tight deadlines
  • Robust IT skills, including Microsoft Office
  • Ability to use online design tools such as Canva
  • A team player who exhibits and embraces the Lodge's values

Located in the West end of Ottawa, Hillel Lodge has served as a home for individuals in need of long-term personal care since it officially opened its doors in 1965.

With a current complement of 121 beds and housed within a thriving 13-acre Jewish Community Campus, we provide a wide range of programming and events to meet the diverse needs of our residents, their families, and the larger community which we serve.

Salary:
$40,000.00-$60,000.00 per year
