What can I expect to do in this role?

You will:
- lead the strategic development of new and event revitalizations for all special events
- provide senior-level expertise to the events team on planning, coordinating, and implementing a range of product enrichment initiatives and revitalization projects linked to greater profit margin and event business growth
- utilize your visual and digital artistic abilities in a creative way to support special event initiatives

Qualifications:


MANDATORY:

  • A valid Ontario Class G driver's licence or equivalent to drive on Ontario highways

EVENT MANAGEMENT

You have:
- prior professional experience in event management to plan and coordinate event design and production initiatives from concept to completion including the development of business cases, organization of logístical arrangements, acquisition of volunteers, materials and support services ensuring successful events
- knowledge and experience in continuous improvement and LEAN methodologies in order to ensure effective and efficient use of time, money and resources throughout the entire events life cycle
- sound understanding of key deliverables linked to the event plan and budget in order to guide the events team in meeting financial targets
- strong organizational skills and ability to meet tight deadlines


ARTISTIC AND DESIGN ABILITIES

You have:
- demonstrated experience leading and coordinating the conceptualization, creation, execution and evaluation of creative design for events and performances, including experience providing technical guidance and illustration expertise, producing and/or sourcing production of conceptual sketched and pre-production plans and artworks
- high level of conceptual, visual, design and graphic skills gained through experience in the design field related to the creation, construction, installation and overall visual presentation of exhibits, events and other experiential products
- knowledge of computer hardware and desktop publishing software such as Adobe CS5 software
  • Photoshop, Indesign, Illustrator, Quark Xpress, and Adobe Acrobat Professional; digital photography, printing processes and other pre
- production techniques to prepare camera-ready art for both in-house and out-of-house production


RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT SKILLS

You have:
- advanced research and development skills to seek and identify new ideas and concepts that will enhance existing event programming and develop new cutting-edge products and events


EVALUATION AND ANALYTICAL SKILLS

You have:
- demonstrated ability to maintain a business outlook when evaluating existing programs for enhancement/changes that provide greater return on investment and when developing new event initiatives
- strong analytical skills to guide the development of business cases, communication strategies and plans for event initiatives

LEADERSHIP, COMMUNICATION AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS


You have:
- advanced leadership skills to oversee the coordination and supervision of staff, volunteers and partners on high profile, complex projects
- strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to work effectively with a wide range of professionals while fostering and developing a collaborative team environment, ability to troubleshoot and resolve contentious issues
- advanced writing and editing techniques to develop strategic communication plans
