Category Specialist - Hybrid


As the Category Specialist, you will be primarily responsible for creating a procurement plan, analyzing sales forecasts, and market data for an assigned product category, ensuring we meet our business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Plan, develop, and implement strategies, including procurement, inventory control, budgeting, administration, production, sales, and logistics.
  • Create a purchase plan based on analysis and departmental goals, negotiate with our headquarters in Japan to ensure that Canada receives the required inventory in a timely manner.
  • Analyze variances between forecasts, purchase plans, budgets, and actuals for assigned product categories and recommend solutions to improve accuracy.
  • Review sales forecasts for assigned product categories, determine appropriate promotion plans and communicate plans to the sales teams.
  • Analyze market data, develop market goals, and partner with sales teams to implement.
  • Generate reports for product categories and disseminate information to Canon Japan and Canon USA.

To Succeed, You Will Have:


  • Postsecondary education in Business Administration, Economics, or related fields.
  • Minimum of three (3) years experience in a related role.
  • Intermediate Excel skills with the ability to use Pivot Tables, vlookups, and ifstatements.
  • Strong analytical, time and project management skills.
  • Great communication skills.
