What can I expect to do in this role?: In this role, you will:
- ensure compatibility with government legislation, ministry policies, standards and objectives that impact on the provincial highway network
- work effectively with external stakeholders such as municipalities and developers
- lead and coordinate requests for highway designations, transfers, assumptions, revocations, removals and closings
How do I qualify?:
Mandatory:
Technical Knowledge:
- you have knowledge of theory, principles and practices of land use planning in order to review and assess the impact of development proposals on the provincial highway network
- you have demonstrated knowledge of provincial legislation, such as the Public Transportation and Highway Improvement Act and the Planning Act
- you have knowledge of traffic operations, drainage, highway design and construction
- you can read and interpret highway and construction plans, reports, and site plans
Other Essential Skills:
- you can use your political acuity skills when making decisions
- you have strong analytical, decision making, problem solving and judgment skills
- you have strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills to deal effectively and tactfully with a wide range of internal and external clients and to write written responses
- you have strong organizational and planning skills to plan work, set priorities and coordinate with internal and external clients
