Job Purpose:


The Business Intelligence Analyst is responsible for supporting the Strategic Analytics team with data analysis and report development, in addition to data quality and data governance activities.

In support of the transformation of TSSA to a data driven organization, this role is critical to improve and enhance the utilization of data and analytical tools for strategic decision making at all levels of the organization.


Scope of the Role:


Collaborate with other departments - for example: Policy, Operations, Intake - to generate insights from data to advance strategic directions through data discovery, data visualization and reporting.


  • Create new PowerBI reports and support maintenance of existing ones to ensure business reporting needs are addressed.
    What you will do?
  • Analytical Skills: work with large amounts of data, with the ability to see through the data, find patterns, analyze it and to draw conclusions to support decision making
  • Communication Skills: to be able to tell the story through data; present their findings and translate the data into understandable concepts, need to write and speak clearly, easily communicating complex ideas
  • Critical Thinking: look at the numbers, trends, and data and come to new databacked conclusions; be able to translate business problems into questions answered by data
  • Attention to Detail: Vigilant in their analysis, capturing all aspects of complex business processes to draw correct conclusions; diligent with delivering to commitments
  • Math Skills: Comfortable with basic statical analysis to help data manipulation and analysis

Data Governance:
Familiar with data quality concepts and be able to investigate quality issues in addition to assessing the impact of quality on conclusions drawn from the data

  • Support business process improvement by identifying any possible gaps seen through data and data quality monitoring

What will you need to succeed?

  • Bachelor's degree or master's degree in Data Science, Data Analysis, Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience as Data Analyst or in a similar analytical role
  • 3+ years of experience with data management, data integration, conversion, transformation, and cleansing
  • 3+ years of experience with data analysis and visualization tools like Excel and Power BI
  • Knowledge of relational SQL databases and SQL in at least one of the following environments: Microsoft SQL Server or MySQL
  • Knowledge and experience in R and Python an asset
  • Knowledge of data governance and data management practices an asset
  • Experience in Microsoft Dynamics CRM, Microsoft DevOps, Scribe, Epicor Financial Management, FinancialForce Human Capability Management and SharePoint is an asset
  • Welldeveloped interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, strong analytical and problemsolving skills and effective conceptualization, pattern recognition, presentation and facilitation skills
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team, establishing project plans and milestone goals
  • Proven skills to work effectively across internal functional areas in ambiguous situations
