    Description

    Brandt is currently seeking a Heavy Equipment Technician for our Thunder Bay Construction & Forestry location.


    This position is responsible for the repair and maintenance of construction and forestry-based equipment and attachments in a shop environment.

    Duties & Responsibilities


    1. Evaluate the working condition of, diagnose, assemble/disassemble, order parts for, and repair heavy duty equipment
    2. Use secondary materials and equipment safely and efficiently
    3. Use related instruments, hand and power tools, secondary equipment, and computer systems
    4. Document on work orders all machine information, actions taken, and time taken
    5. Assess service task hazards and ensure work is performed safely
    6. Use computer applications and information systems (i.e. John Deere Service Advisor)
    7. Use parts catalogues to locate parts, and order parts from parts personnel
    8. Road test equipment and check attachment operation as required

    Required Skills


    1. Evaluate the working condition of, diagnose, assemble/disassemble, order parts for, and repair heavy duty equipment
    2. Use secondary materials and equipment safely and efficiently
    3. Dismantle, repair, and assemble industrial machinery and mechanical equipment according to specifications
    4. Operate hoisting devices to position machinery and parts during assembly, installation, and/or repair activities
    5. Test and provide constructive feedback on existing and newly manufactured industrial equipment
    6. Inspect, diagnose, and repair malfunctioning machinery and equipment
    7. Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance work on machinery
    8. Prepare electronic inspection and service reports
    9. Use parts catalogues to locate parts, and order parts from parts personnel
    10. Road test equipment and check attachment operation as required
    11. Other duties as required

    Required Experience


    1. Ability to communicate and work effectively with customers, the service team, and branch personnel
    2. Outstanding knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems
    3. Proven computer and technical aptitude and knowledge for diagnostics and calibration work
    4. Diagnostic skills to understand mechanical and technical equipment repair needs
    5. Time-management skills to perform effectively under pressure
    6. Communication skills, showing an appreciation of customer needs
    7. Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues
    8. Commitment to high quality customer service with a strong people orientation
    9. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
