Job Overview

The Accounting Intern will be assisting full-cycle accounting which includes but is not limited to accounts payable, accounts receivable, and inventory. The Accounting intern will also be exposed to ad-hoc projects that may be required from time to time.


Position Responsibilities:


  • Accounts Payable Functions:
  • Charge expenses to accounts and cost centres by analyzing invoice/expense reports and recording entries.
  • Pay vendors by verifying federal ID numbers; scheduling and preparing checks; resolving purchase orders, contracts, and invoices, including discrepancies and documentation; ensuring credit is received for outstanding memos; issuing stoppayments or purchase order amendments.
  • Verify vendor accounts by reconciling monthly statements and related transactions.
  • Maintain historical records by filing documents.
  • Accounts Receivable Functions:
  • Create and post sales invoices and credit notes.
  • Provide monthly and weekly reporting to senior management regarding the status of aged customer accounts.
  • Grain/Procurement:
  • Monitor inward shipment intransit and coordinate with suppliers and brokers.
  • Record grain receipts and track purchase invoices.
  • Other:
  • Provide assistance to other accounting staff in the annual external audit review process
  • Perform other accounting and administrative duties that may be required.

Employment Qualifications:


  • In the process of completing or completion of degree/diploma in Accounting.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and Excel.

  • Strong sense of initiative, selfstarter, and able to work well independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Must be a team player and able to work efficiently in a dynamic fastpaced, work environment.
