Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario Research Institute ("CHEO RI") is the research arm of the Children's
Hospital of Eastern Ontario - Ottawa Children's Treatment Centre ("CHEO") and an affiliated institute of the

CHEO RI has an immediate requirement for a Program Navigator.
CHEO has recently launched an innovation program called TECHi (Technology Enabling Child Health
Innovations), whose purpose is to create a rich support ecosystem designed for healthcare innovators who aim to improve the lives of children and youth.

Our innovation program is designed to identify, nurture, and accelerate ground-breaking ideas that have the potential to transform the care we provide and provide the best life for our patients and their families.

We provide a supportive ecosystem, access to resources, and strategic partnerships to help these ideas grow and thrive.

We are seeking a highly motivated and results-oriented Innovation Program Navigator to join our team and play a pivotal role in driving the success of our innovation program.


As an Innovation Program Navigator, you will play a crucial role in driving and facilitating innovation initiatives within our organization.

You will be responsible for guiding teams through the innovation process.

Your primary focus will be to foster a culture of innovation, identify opportunities, and guide teams in generating, commercializing and implementing innovative ideas.

You will serve as a liaison between different departments, ensuring effective communication and collaboration throughout the innovation journey.

This role requires a blend of strategic thinking, project management, and strong interpersonal skills to navigate complex challenges and drive successful innovation outcomes.


RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the general supervision of the Manager, Innovation Program, the Program Navigator will:

  • Coordinate all idea generation activities related to the innovation program.
  • Facilitate all screenings and intakes of prospective innovation projects, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and strategies.
  • Foster a culture of innovation within the organization by organizing workshops, training sessions, and events to promote creative thinking, problemsolving, and idea generation.
  • Encourage and support employees at all levels to contribute innovative ideas.
  • Facilitate the ideation process, guiding teams through brainstorming sessions and workshops.
  • Implement systems and tools for capturing, evaluating, and prioritizing ideas.
  • Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to ensure a diverse range of perspectives are considered.
  • Act as a bridge between different departments and teams, promoting crossfunctional collaboration and effective communication.
  • Facilitate meetings, workshops, and presentations to gather input, share progress, and generate buyin for innovation initiatives in each core area of ideation, commercialization and implementation.
  • Identify and address any roadblocks or challenges that may arise in the program and processes through the ideation, commercialization and implementation phases.
  • Engage with stakeholders at various levels to secure buyin, support, and resources for innovation initiatives.
  • Build relationships with internal and external partners, fostering a network of innovation champions.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILL AND ABILITIES

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in business, or a clinical field. A master's degree is a plus. (Essential)
  • Experience: Minimum of 5+ years of experience in health care system (administration or research), preferably CHEO or Bruyère, with strong background in collaboration and new program implementation. Experience in a diverse range of departments and roles is desirable. Experience in the private sector and particularly with startups is an asset. (preferred)
  • Innovation Mindset: Strong passion for innovation with proven track record of driving successful innovative initiatives. (Essential)
