Job Summary:

Nu Build Contracting Inc. is looking for immediate employment of mini excavator operators. You must be able and willing to perform physical duties outdoors (general Labour) and other duties as assigned. Must also make working safe and smart a priority.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Execute all work assigned in a safe manner
  • Perform general labouring tasks including but not limited to sodding/seeding, installing PVC pipe, conduit splicing, cable pulling, lifting/lowering pedestals and GLBs etc...
  • Assist in traffic control
  • Handle and distribute construction materials, loading and unloading vehicles with supplies, equipment, remove all debris from work sites
  • Excavate, backfill, and compact earth using shovels and rakes
  • Operate small power tools (e.g. compaction jumping jacks, cut saws, air compressors and generators).
  • Fill out daily logs and paperwork
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Skills

  • Minimum 3 years' Experience operating a mini excavator/ excavator
  • Experience in the underground telecommunications field an asset
  • Valid A or AZ license
  • Must be able to safely lift loads of 65 lbs.
  • Must be able to manage efficiently and ensure that deadlines are met to satisfy customer needs
  • Must be well organized and be able to work well individually and as part of a team
  • Must have previous general labour experience in a construction setting working with unloading materials and equipment, driving vehicles
  • Certifications such as: confined space, electrical awareness, working at heights, first aid is a big asset
  • Good attention to detail and ability to work well with others.

Schedule:

  • 10 hour shift

Supplemental pay types:

Experience:

Excavator Operating: 3 years (preferred)
Telecom Industry: 1 year (preferred)


Licence/Certification:

  • D Class or higher Driver's License (preferred)
