Overview:
Reporting directly to the Director of Operations, the Business Development Associate will lead sales efforts and strategies. Responsible for direct contact, both reactively and proactively, with customers in the Canadian market. This position will augment the current sales team to generate standard and non-standard product sales, as well as fabrication services that contribute to the throughput at the Hamilton operations


Responsibilities:


  • Develop sales by researching and identifying potential customers, soliciting new accounts, building rapport, providing technical information and explanations.
  • Establish new sales opportunities from inbound inquiries.
  • Meet with customers onsite to thoroughly understand requirements and value required by the customer.
  • Prepare proposals by interpreting CAD drawings, plans, and related customer documents; consulting with Jervis Webb engineers, operations and technical personnel.
  • Hold clarification discussions, and gather any subsequent information and questions required for a thorough proposal.
  • Review terms and conditions, payment terms, warranty requirements, and other unusual and significant requirements.
  • Follow up with customers to ensure expectations have been exceeded.
  • The Business Development Associate will be required to use his/her own vehicle to visit customer work locations. A mileage allowance will be provided.
  • Some travel may be required away from the Hamilton area by air or car which includes overnight stays.
  • Onsite and remote, working in an office, with occasional manufacturing environment exposure.
  • Mental demands include reading complex documents and CAD drawings, detailed work, problem solving, and mathematical reasoning. Communication both verbal and written, frequent interruption, and memory for details is common.
  • Regular work schedule is Monday to Friday.

Qualifications:

  • Competent in MS Office: Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint, as well as Teams.
  • Must have superb communication, problem solving and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in reading and understanding engineered drawings, with AutoCAD experience desirable
  • 5+ years experience in a technical sales role, preferably related to mechanical design in the industrial automation field.
  • Successful completion of post secondary education, preferably in a technical field.
  • An understanding of manufacturing, fabrication and machining processes.
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings.
  • Enjoy working both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work under pressure with time constraints.
  • Comfortable as a speaker and proficient with presentation tools.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
  • Exceedingly strong work ethic, very reliable with a positive "can do" attitude.
  • Availability to travel approximately 25% of the time.
  • Must be legally able to work in Canada.
