We are looking for an ambitious leader to help us take our Consumer Events and Business Trade Sales team to the next level This is a great opportunity to build lasting relationships with businesses and community groups within and outside of the city.


Working hand-in-hand with our amazing team of Account Executives and Sales Coordinators and with the support of our Director, Food & Beverage and Catering Sales, this role plays a strategic function for REAL to generate revenue through the sales of our facilities.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Participate in the development of REAL's strategic process and implementation of business plans to achieve both long and short term goals by:
  • Developing goals with the team and holding self and other accountable to achieve said goals
  • Monitoring KPIs and making course corrections as needed
  • Provide leadership to the business unit
  • Collaborating with stakeholders, peers, and internal clients to ensure successful delivery of events and goals
  • Monitoring and evaluating team resources to successfully work force plan and forecast financials
  • Lead, oversee, and manage Sales team activities and programs to increase catering and trade/consumer show events that generate revenue growth by:
  • Developing strategic sales plans
  • Utilizing personal sales and relationship management skills
  • Collaborating with senior management and other peers to identify opportunities of development including possible clients, sales offers, and pricing
  • Conducting cold calls and other mechanisms to engage clients
  • Building and negotiating sales proposals
  • Provide leadership and coaching to Account Executives to manage difficult customer situations
  • Ensure adherence to contractual agreements and excellent customer service
  • Nurture strong, longterm relationships with local community businesses and outofprovince audiences to retain and grow business opportunities
  • Ensure effective business unit planning by:
  • Contributing to the development of the department's annual budget
  • Reviewing invoicing with the finance team and ensuring billing is occurring in a timely manner
  • Recommending changes when deemed necessary
  • Lead and develop a strong team to carry out business unit strategies by:
  • Establishing goals and targets in conjunction with the team
  • Hold the team accountable for to goals and performance expectations
  • Building engagement and positive morale within the unit
  • Performing other duties as allocated.

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Commerce, Hospitality and Tourism, or other related field a combination of relevant education, training and experience will be considered
  • Certification in sales training is an asset
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a sales/sales management position with a proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales goals
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive business relationships that produce profitable results
  • Experience in roles that require client management capabilities and strong customer engagement focus
  • Experience in forecasting, developing budgets, responding to bids, and writing sales proposals and contracts
  • Demonstrated experience leading and managing strong performing teams
  • Computer proficiency required
  • Experience working in a unionized environment is an asset
  • Oral and written communication skills to provide information to colleagues and external stakeholders
  • Ability to plan, organize and prioritize work tasks in a fastpaced environment
  • Preference will be given to those with hospitality, conference, trade show, or large event sales experience
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check for the duration of employment
  • This position may be required to work evenings and weekends depending on the needs of the business.
