Reporting directly to the CEO, the Vice President, Finance will provide leadership, direction and management to the finance and accounting team.

This will include managing the processes for financial forecasting and budgets and overseeing the preparation of all financial reporting.

The VP Finance will advise the Senior Management team, the CEO and the board on long-term business, strategy, and financial planning.

This seasoned strategist not only understands current accounting practices and trends but has proven experience managing diverse capital providers and adapting to change.

As a member of our senior management, he or she will be comfortable in a leadership role that demands clear communication and presentation skills.


Responsibilities

  • Drive the financial planning for the company by analyzing performance and risks as well as build out scenarios that can help determine potential future changes
  • Provide leadership to finance team, facilitating professional development, training, and certification activities for each team member plus working with each team member to help enable their individual and collective success
  • Retain constant awareness of the company's financial position and act to prevent problems
  • Help manage relationships with partners and other stakeholders
  • Ensure strong financial health of each sector including overseeing daily cash flow
  • Ensure adherence to financial laws and guidelines
  • Perform adhoc analysis where required to assist in management decision making
  • Accountable finance officer to ensure company cash flows consistently align with projections, making recommendations and adjustments as required
  • Spearhead mergers/acquisition, equity, tax, dividend planning, divestitures, and other financial activity for the group of companies
  • Rapidly scale business successfully
  • Prepare term sheets, Proforma, reports, metrics, and other financial due diligence for stakeholders
  • Prepare and manage accounting and financial operations to ensure all monthly, quarterly and/or annual reports are accurate and up to date keeping owners current on the financial state of the business
  • Research revenue opportunities and economic trends, analyze internal operations, cost assumptions, identify areas of cost reduction and process enhancement, and work with responsible manager/director to improve results
  • Perform risk management through analysis of company liabilities and investments, and evaluate and manage capital structure, fundraising initiatives, and investor relations
  • Monitor performance with tracking, establish corrective measures as needed, and prepare detailed reports, both actual and forecasted for investor and board meetings, bank meetings, the management team, and the rest of the company

Qualifications:


  • Professional Designation (CPA, CMA, CA) in accounting, business accounting or finance
  • Progressively responsible for a major company or division of a large corporation
  • Strong organizational and managerial skills, ability to adapt to multiple demands, set priorities and achieve results on a timely basis
  • Ability to grasp accounting and legal technical concepts quickly
  • High level capability with Microsoft, Excel and current ERP systems; ADP and Quickbook experience an asset
  • Experience with USA Operations desired
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with medium to large organizations
