We are looking for a Quality Inspector II - CMM Programmer for our facility in Oakville, Ontario.


JOB SUMMARY


The Quality Inspector II (CMM Programmer) is responsible for validating materials and manufactured components to ensure they are compliant with work instructions and set specifications.

In addition, they must have demonstrated ability to troubleshoot issues related to manufacturing, measurements and inspection reports.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Audit, inspect and monitor quality requirements in process and accordance with the company quality assurance policies and customer specifications for firstoff, inprocess, receiving, and final inspection activities.
  • Support implementation and maintenance of systems which support the overall quality and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Work closely with the Production team to resolve inspection questions, identify nonconformances and take immediate action to support corrective action and resolution of all issues.
  • May be required to assist with Quality Surveillance of sub suppliers. Activities to include dimensional inspection, document review, packaging review, or other aspects as required.
  • May be required to perform witness at vendors for nonnuclear products.
  • Perform accurate mechanical, physical and visual inspection of raw materials, components, and subassemblies as per control plans and specification requirements.
  • Verify dimensions of parts using hand precision measuring instruments like vernier calipers, micrometers, depth gauges, height gauges, chamfer gauges, radius gauges, thread gauges and CMM as necessary.
  • Perform final inspection activities (ensure nonconformances are closed, previous operations in MCS all signed complete, documents for the part are complete) and complete sign off in MCS.
  • Document and report inspection results and Completed Purchase Orders. File, scan and archive as necessary.
  • Perform product identification and traceability activities, as required.
  • Sign off MCS for completed operations you inspected and, if witness was required, work with customer and BWXT witness to get MCS signed off.
  • Interpret customer drawings (including geometric tolerances) and technical information packages.
  • Assess part compliance, initiate NCR and follow through NCR process for disposition and timely closure.
  • Safely move components including the use of lifting devices such as overhead cranes and jib cranes as applicable.

_CMM_

  • Create comprehensive dimensional reports from CMM data and conventional measuring equipment.
  • May be involved in CMM programming and CMM program verification.
  • May support CMM programming in determining alternatives to CMM inspection to reduce bottlenecks.
  • May support CMM programming function by preparing comprehensive nonconformance report.

_Calibration _

  • May be required to perform routine calibration and recertification on various inspection gauging.
  • May be required to initiate and provide highquality documentation of all labrelated activities.
  • May be required to review and provide technical input on calibration and qualification procedures.
  • May be required to drafting of Standard Operating Procedures for equipment.
  • May be required to assist in maintaining and, where applicable, improving the effectiveness of the computer system validation and data integrity program.
  • May be required to assist with the adoption and implementation of a laboratory information management system (LIMS).

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Technical Diploma in Quality or relevant field.
  • 2 to 5 years working in quality control and/or receiving environment.
  • Proficiency interpreting complex manufacturing drawings with GDT specifications to determine the appropriate dimensional inspections to establish compliance.
  • Knowledge of ASME Code, ISO 9001, CSA N285.0 and N299 quality programs is an asset.
  • Expertise in the use of appropriate measuring tools and equipment including verniers, calipers, micrometers, depth gauges, height gauges, chamfer gauges, radius gauges, thread gauges, etc.
  • Familiarity with controls required for calibration of measuring and test equipment.
  • Understanding of specific NDE techniques: liquid penetration, magnetic particle inspection, ultrasonic testing and radiographic testing an asset.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and Outlook).
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills working within a teambased environment.
  • Strong ability to work independently to complete assignments promptly while maintaining the high standards required in our industry.
  • Ability to solve routine technical problems using a variety of systematic approaches.
