Position Summary - Reporting to the Associate Director, Student Life (ADSL), The Student Life and Outreach Liaison (SLOL) supports student success and retention by coordinating prevention, intervention, and support efforts across campus and the wider community to assist atrisk (academic and nonacademic) students and students in crises. Under the direction of the ADSL, the SLOL is responsible for coordinating NIC's Early Assist program and making referrals to oncampus and community supports. The incumbent assists with the planning, organization and promotion of proactive educational programming for students, staff and faculty by supporting the development and delivery of programs to advance NIC's response to student mental health issues, sexualized violence awareness and prevention, and in other areas that impact the student experience.

Duties & Responsibilities
Student Outreach and Crisis Management
- 1. Coordinates the Early Assist program including receiving and responding to referrals, faculty/staff consultation, data collection and report writing.
3. Provides outreach to students identified as 'at risk' and assists in the development of support plans as required.

Provides appropriate referrals to students who are experiencing a variety of emotional, social, behavioural and/or academic concerns including students on probation and those facing academic integrity infractions.
5. Supports effective case management processes that align with various college policies, practices, and strategic plans.6.
Provides appropriate follow up to students with respect to referrals to help support continuity of care including students transitioning back to college after an approved leave or suspension.
7. Maintains a directory of community resources available to students in distress.8.
Manages and protects highly sensitive personal information in a confidential manner that aligns with privacy law and established policies and protocols.
9. Gathers information on current trends and issues in student affairs to help identify support/resource options for students.10. Helps foster self-advocacy in students to help them manage their academic and personal responsibilities.
11. Promotes student and employee supports through workshops, tabling events, information sessions and classroom visits.

- Contributes to Student Life planning and event coordination, delivery and evaluation.
3. Promotes events and initiatives using NIC social media platforms.
4. Tracks statistics of student involvement in events to monitor trends and popular appeal.

Supports the CARE2 Student Mental Health and Well-being Plan by developing initiatives and events to promote engagement, connection and healthy life-styles.
6. Prepares the weekly Student Newsletter for publication.7. Participates in the hiring, training, and scheduling of student employees (Campus Life Assistants).
- Participates in other projects as assigned by the Associate Director, Student Life and Housing.
Required Education & Experience - 1. Bachelor's degree in education or a related field (e.g. social work, public health, counselling, or psychology).
Minimum of four years' experience in Student Services in a post-secondary institution, including experience working with students from diverse backgrounds including Indigenous and international students.
3. Experience in a health-related field such as social work or counselling preferred.Required Knowledge Skills & Abilities
