Description
ALSTOM has an opening for an Indirect Sourcing Buyer to be located at its Montreal, Quebec office.The Buyer will responsible for sourcing indirect commodities related to ALSTOM operations across Canada and the USA while meeting or exceeding quality, cost and delivery objectives.
These include a variety of goods and services to support operations as instructed by management. The Buyer's objectives are to meet and exceed cost savings targets, quality and delivery performance, and expected service levels.He/she will also get involved with legal, finance, quality and safety matters to ensure supplier compliance to the terms of the contracts and ALSTOM's standards.
The Buyer will execute sourcing strategies, identify bid lists, carry out RFQs, define and implement cost saving and service level improvement plans.
In addition to suppliers, this role will interface with multiple internal customers (Engineering, Operations, Human Resources, Finance, etc) and technical support teams.
The work will be done in accordance to ALSTOM's processes to achieve a world-class quality and delivery of services and goods at the lowest cost while managing risks to ALSTOM.
The Buyer will also manage company tools related to vendor management, e-procurement platform, and catalogues.After the initial training phase, the Buyer will administer and coordinate, on behalf of the indirect sourcing team, collection of documentation, process compliance checks and proactively update price lists, catalogues while resolving technical issues.
In this role, the Buyer will support management during internal and external audits demonstrating compliance to processes and the use of best practices in the day-to-day work.
This position will report to the Country Sourcing Director and Regional Indirect Sourcing Manager and will work closely with the Indirect Sourcing and Commodity Management teams.
Qualifications:
- One plus yearexperience in indirect sourcing, or sourcing related activities
- Demonstrated ability to develop and successfully implement cost savings plans and ideas
- Demonstrated ability to develop with internal stakeholders scopes of work, KPIs and SLA
- Demonstrated ability to lead vendors' relationship management and performance assessment
- Experience in managing and resolving commercial and contractual issues with suppliers
- Experience or general knowledge of eprocurement tools
- Data gathering and analysis competencies
- Ability to work in a matrix organization with multiple sites
- Organizational skills including the ability to prioritize, handle multiple projects, meet deadlines and take decisions independently within the authorized powers
- Professional interpersonal verbal and written communication skills in a multicultural environment
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Experience in SAP or other ERP systems preferred
Languages:
- Proficiency in both English and French is required
Educational Qualifications:
- Master Degree required, specialized in Purchasing, Supply Chain, Engineering, Economics, or Business
