Duties and Responsibilities:


Reporting to the Director, Undergraduate Recruitment, the Recruitment Communications Officer researches, writes, edits, proofreads, and facilitates the production of promotional, marketing and various other communications material (including electronic communications) for the Undergraduate Recruitment and Admission Services offices; liaises with the University's academic and administrative departments to ensure information is accurate and timely; oversees photography shoots; co-ordinates submissions to external organizations requesting recruitment and admissions information on Carleton; maintains an inventory of reference materials (including webpage references) and photography; and performs other duties as assigned.

Communications materials include viewbooks, degree brochures, program pamphlets, acknowledgement and offer packages for new applicants, admissions information, newsletters, flyers for recruitment initiatives and events, fact sheets, and posters in both print and electronic formats.


Qualifications:


The incumbent must possess the following qualifications:

  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, creativity, and the ability to work quickly and effectively under tight deadlines
  • A creative eye for recruitment photography;
  • Attention to detail;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a demonstrated capacity to work with a wide variety of people;
  • Proven organizational skills;
  • Sound judgement;
  • A thorough understanding of the University environment, its programs, and policies as well as the Canadian secondary and postsecondary educational system.

Education and Experience:


The above is normally acquired through the completion of:

  • University honours degree in journalism, English, or communications, or an acceptable equivalent.
  • A minimum of five years in the communications and marketing field, with experience in promotional writing and a full overview of the publication/ecommunication process (from copy, photography and design to layout and print or electronic communications).
