***SUMMARY
Reporting directly to the Director of programmation, the VFX artist will work in a multidisciplinary and collaborative environment. It will deliver high quality effects in cohesion with the art and design departments.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Create realtime particle effects and animated shaders, from concept to implementation.
- Perform visual compositing to set up effects in the game engine.
- Collaborate with designers, artists, and programmers to achieve aesthetic excellence.
- Work in accordance with the production limits of the chosen game engine.
- Understand best practices, production sequences, and workflows.
- Optimize visual effects to improve performance while maintaining highquality standards.
- Reference game design documentation to develop an understanding of environments, objectives, moods, story, and project style.
- Maintain consistent art style while meeting deadlines.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience as an FX artist in the video game industry.
- Bachelor's degree or university diploma in 3D art, computer science, digital art, or equivalent training or experience.
- Excellent knowledge of creating special effects in the game engine.
- Proficiency in Unreal (especially Cascade modules) or Unity game engine.
- Indepth knowledge of at least one highend 3D software (Maya, Max, Blender, C4D);
- Demonstrate capabilities in using external renderers for ground truth rendering.
- Strong understanding of modeling, texture mapping, materials, and postprocessing.
- Strong Photoshop skills.
- Passion for problemsolving.
WOULD BE AN ASSET:
- Familiarity with data management software.
- Experience delivering at least one game as an FX artist, preferably on a AAA console title.
- Experience with Houdini software for VFX production.
- Skills in simulation engines like FumeFX and RealFlow;
- Good knowledge of coding or scripting, including experience with C/++, JavaScript.
- Good knowledge of GLSL (or HLSL) shadering.
- Skills with After Effects.
