A Snapshot of Your Day


As an Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Lead, you will play a vital role in the success of our Gas Services business area in North America.

In this role, you will be responsible for site safety and environmental programs in support of our field teams who perform maintenance and upgrades to some of the largest and most powerful electrical generation machinery in the world including gas turbines (10MW to 400MW in size), steam turbines, and generators.

The role will primarily focus on western Canada and western US operations gas turbines, steam and generators, with additional focus on the Gas Service Distributed equipment for all of North America.


How You'll Make an Impact:


  • Provide EHS compliance guidance to project teams
  • Perform regular EHS safety visits and observations of project sites
  • Provide EHS data as required for Siemens Energy's internal reporting
  • Lead site related project safety programs, coaching and training including, but not limited to, Safety Meetings, Lock-OutTag-Out (LOTO), Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Rigging & Lifting, Scaffolding & Ladders, Confined Space, Hazardous Materials, and Material Handling.
  • Professional interaction with customer leadership and with SE senior leadership; Serve as direct liaison with end customers' EHS personnel.
  • Support Human Performance (HuP) program by ensuring site Safety Leaders and site crews are trained in and conduct Readiness Reviews, Site Orientations, Pre-Job Briefs, use the HuP tools to mitigate hazards and other defined site related EHS tasks.
  • Assist in the management of site related environmental and chemical management programs
  • Oversee incident case management as required.
  • Support incident investigations, and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) of Near Miss and incidents to ensure safe work procedures are being followed with respect to Company policy, country specific regulatory agencies, transportation and export customs and control regulations, and client/ company policy as well as applicable regulatory state and federal laws within the specified area where work is being performed.
  • Ensure site personnel understand and are adequately informed of Emergency Response Plans.
  • Communicate regular updates regarding injury and illness awareness and mitigating measures.
  • Ability to identify, call out, and report sophisticated hazards and risk mitigation
  • Develop innovative ways to mentor and empower the site Safety Leaders and crew to maintain a strong EHS culture and maintain safe work practices

What You Bring

  • Typically, a minimum of 810 years of successful direct EHS leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of EHS within the Energy, Chemical or Oil & Gas industries
  • This position requires an understanding of OSHA, Canadian Provincial regulations, Worker's Compensation, U.S. EPA & DOT, and applicable State regulations and how these regulations impact our business.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and experience with root cause analysis (RCA) assessment and incident investigation.
  • This position requires travel, potentially up to 30%.
  • Knowledge of Human Factors/Human Performance is a plus.
